I have acquired and am starting to sell a large amount of fully re-engineered classic gear from “The Soundsmith” in Peekskill NY, a 40 plus year legacy service center and manufacturer known for their quality restorations and extremely generous full unit warranties. Offered is a pair of unique Halcro/Soundsmith Hybrid DM68 amplifiers. These are unique because 2/3rds of the amplifier is completely redesigned by Peter Ledermann of The Soundsmith. The front end (input section) is Halcro design. The power amplifier sections are now Soundsmith’s award winning HE-150 Zero-Feedback MOSFET design by Peter Ledermann, These units had severe problems with original boards, so Ledermann decided to rebuild the chassis with his amplifier designs and totally new high current DC-DC switching power supplies. The MOSFET amps are a higher power version of his HE-150 MOSFET amplifier design. The result is stunning. Huge dimensionality, ultra-low distortion and damping factor of well over 200; the bass is astounding – tight and clean. The Soundsmith HE-150 sells for $43,000, therefore making these amplifiers an extremely good value if you are in the market for high end designs. They will be covered for parts and labor by Soundsmith for 5 years. The amps are supplied with their original airworthy/truck shipping containers.
