The DPA-1 is a true digital pre-amplifier from Lyngdorf Audio
incorporating the innovative RoomPerfect™ room correction technology
that allows you to access the real sound of your audio system.
RoomPerfect™ is the most sophisticated room correction system in the
market, yet it is very simple to use via an intuitive menu and control
panel. 

But the DPA-1 digital pre-amplifier is much more than a pre-amplifier
with room correction; it is also a complete digital signal processing
control center for designing advanced loudspeaker set-ups.



To ensure maximum compatibility and easy connection, the DPA-1 offers
both single-ended and balanced inputs/outputs for easy connection to
analog or digital sources.

 

RoomPerfect™

Why room correction? In any audio system, more than 50% of the sound
you hear comes from the contribution of the room—echoes, reflections,
absorption, and the like. The solution to this problem is RoomPerfect™,
the most advanced room adaptation software available. RoomPerfect™ uses
sophisticated technology to adapt the sound system to the environment,
rather than the other way around. It assesses each room and adjusts your
speakers to account for the specific physical characteristics of the
environment, making them sound exactly as the manufacturer intended them
to, not the way your room’s limitations make them sound. It’s tested.
It’s proven. And it works.

A/D D/A conversion

The DPA-1 features both analog and digital in and outputs. Analog
to digital signal conversion is handled via the same high performance AK
5394 converter employed in Lyngdorf Audio’s flagship Millennium ADC.
The converter is built to outperform noise levels of most analog
sources. Whether used with the single-ended or balanced inputs provided,
the DPA-1 ensures that the signal is immediately converted to a
balanced signal.



The D/A converter section (also used in the Millennium) drives a
high quality, single ended and balanced output stage. The D/A converter
is built around the fine Wolfson WM8740 which, in combination with our
balanced design, results in outstanding sonic qualities.



The DPA-1 has been carefully designed using the experience gained
from the state-of-the-art Lyngdorf Audio amplifiers regarding internal
noise in both analog and digital signal sections. All signal paths of
the DPA-1 are individually impedance-compensated (using
transmission-line principles) to ensure better noise immunity, while
optimum impedance matching is maintained in order to preserve the
original signal shape.

Fully Balanced Signal Path

Lyngdorf Audio’s fully-balanced design gives clear
advantages regarding hum and noise suppression, and even the feedback
loop in the output stage is designed to be fully balanced. Except for DC
blocking capacitors in the input, the construction is DC-coupled
through the rest of the construction, leaving no doubt about capacitor
quality.



In the analog signal chain only the highest quality components are
used as Ultra low distortion Burr-Brown op-amps in the input stage and
Polypropylene capacitors in the output reconstruction filter.
