Mark Levinson 331 Dual Mono Amplifier Fully Serviced and Working Perfectly

Like every other ML amplifier from this era, this one suffered from leaking deteriorated capacitors.  I was lucky enough to acquire a full set of 8 power caps for this unit which his a rare feat.  
Not only were the caps replaced but I went though every other potentially deteriorated component to ensure then new power will get another 30+ years of reliable service.  The unit was then bench tested for several days at every power level while the output was carefully monitored.  While servicing the unit I was surprised at the build quality, attention to detail and component selection.  Unfortunately at the time it was designed, ML had no idea that those capacitors would eventually fail and had no way of knowing.  Don’t be fooled thought, this unit is an engineering marvel and well worth the trouble to repair. 
If you are looking at other ML amplifier and you are unsure if it has been serviced, I suggest you keep looking.  Mark Levinson and most repair centers will charge upwards of $1500 for this upgrade. That doesn’t even include shipping and taxes.

Cosmetically this unit is in fair condition.  There are some scratches on the top and faceplate and the heat sinks have an occasional abrasion.  Its presentable but if your the picky type with respect to cosmetics you probably won’t be happy.  If you care more about sound quality and reliability then you’ll be thrilled.  
On the back you will find some of the best speaker terminals in the industry.  There are two complete sets which can be hand tightened for a super snug fit.  There is also a set of hight quality gold RCA single ended input terminal and fully balanced XLR terminals.  The 12V triggers are a bit unusual as they utilize momentary voltage to trigger on rather then the usual constant voltage.  If you have other ML hear then youll want to use the proprietary RJ11 connectors to link the units together.  
Unit will be packed in a double McIntosh box worth about $300.  If you’ve ever packed a Mcintosh amplifier then you’ll understand how awesome their packing materials are and won’t be worried about travel damage.
