McIntosh MC 2200 Restored by Absolute Sound Labs

Up for sale is a fully restored McIntosh MC2200 2-channel amplifier.  This was restored in June 2014 by Absolute Sounds Labs in Savage, MN.  In 2016, I had the original output devices replaced with updated devices and also at that time, the RCA input jacks were replaced.  

This was paired with the C-29 that I also have for sale.  Will work a deal if you want both items.

Absolute Sound Labs is an Authorized McIntosh service center and has been in business since 1964.  Being an Authorized McIntosh service center, they have access to many parts, manuals and technical help that other technicians can only dream of.

Amplifier plays clean and crisp without static, hum or audio dropouts.  Physically the unit is in good condition with small rust spots near the large capacitors; scratches on top and the front panel is deformed and scratched, thus the lower rating based on condition.

When I received the unit, the seller did not pack it correctly and bent the front corner.  I had it professionally repaired the best they could do without stretchering or stressing the metal further.  When in my rack on the bottom shelf, it was not noticeable.

Notes from the restoration -

Disassemble and evaluate.  Perform power-up procedure.  Found low-level floor noise, dirty controls and bend panel assembly.  Remove panel and outsource repair per client.  Perform complete restoration.  Reassemble and polycoat chassis parts.  Bench check for 36 hours.

A total of 27 capacitors were replaced, along with new lamps, output device insulators, new screws and new felt behind the controls.
