Here we have a McIntosh MC402 in awesome used condition. This amp was pulled out of a system today and was replaced by a pair of MC601's. This MC402 was powering a pair of Sonus Fabers and it sounded spectacular! There's just something incredibly musical about the McIntosh/Sonus Faber combination.
The MC402 is a 400 watt stereo amplifier and if you know McIntosh, 400 is conservative. With the "Autoformers" you are guaranteed to get that 400 watts in the 8, 4, or 2 ohm taps. Also loaded with "Power Guard" this amp will make it next to impossible to trash your speakers. Then again, if that little red indicator starts lighting up you might want to think about backing off a bit. Just saying.
Another benefit of running a McIntosh amp is the Total Harmonic Distortion. Normally I don't like to get too caught up in numbers and specs but McIntosh amps are pretty much all measured at .005% THD at peak power. Good luck finding numbers like this with other manufacturers! What that translates to is a completely dead silent background and pinpoint stereo imaging. If there is noise in your system, trust me, it's coming from something else.
We have the original box for shipping but it was stored in a garage and got a little wet over the years. The box, not the amp. At nearly 150 pounds shipping weight we will strap it to a pallet and ship it freight to get to you safely.
Local pick up is welcome but subject to sales tax.
