I have to assume if you are looking at this then you know what this
is. This was Nakamichi's top model when they were at their greatest.
Just the phono stage alone is worth the asking price!

You may have noticed that these units have been increasing in price lately. There is another seller offering one in poor condition and without remote for nearly $850. This unit is an absolute steal at the posted asking price.

To build a preamp like this today would cost several thousands
easily. Look at the huge dual toroidal power transformers, flberglass
boards, Noble volume control, etc etc, you get the idea.

Most of these have missing selector buttons on the front, this one
isn't missing any of those buttons. The original remote alone can sell
from between $150 to $200 by itself.

The ground portion (outer portion) of the output 1 RCA's (see pic) on the rear is a
little loose but have no negative impact on the sound at all. I
mentioned this only for sake of full disclosure, and this must be pretty common because I had another unit a while back which had the exact same issue.

The phono stage in these is simply superb, adjustable gain for MC,
adjustable impedance via additional resistor loading (default is 100
ohms without any resistor plugged in, which his the way it is now), and
adjustable capacitance for MM. I do not have the factory resistors to
change the impedance but they are simply resistors and you can get them
anywhere if you need to change the impedance to something other than 100
ohms.

I'm going to rate it conservatively as 7, although some people
would rate it higher. It is working perfectly and should provide the new
owner with years of audiophile delight.

I do not have the original box or manual, but I did print off a copy
of the manual and include that with the unit. It well be very well
packed so rest assured it will arrive safely and as you see it.

One last note, the hex screws that hold the cover on have been
replaced with much better quality hex head steel screws of the proper
metric thread (M4 x 8) and size. The original ones were made of aluminum
and have mangled heads from someone using an incorrectly sized
allen key. This is one of the very few weaknesses of these excellent and
collectible units, and I will include the original mangled screws in a separate bag.

I set the shipping at a fixed $60 in the lower 48 states only. If it
is less based on your location I will refund the difference, if it is
more I will cover that. It will ship FedEx ground, fully insured.

No return or warranty. I do guarantee it is fully functional and will
arrive in the same condition you see it in now, beyond that I cannot
predict the future so I can't make any guarantees on it. I can say (and
you can see by the pictures) that it is in excellent condition and
appears to be completely original (no mods). Just a good sounding, well
built unit.
