Plinius 8150i (Galbo Mods)

The Plinius 8150 is an audiophile classic and this unit is in very good to excellent condition, with a couple of scuffs and small scratches. I can't begin to describe now extraordinary this amp is. If you are not familiar with it, google it, along with "Vince Galbo". I sent this unit to him in 2010 for repairs after a power surge. In addition to repairs, he gave it his ultimate
mods.

I have received an inquiry asking for more specific description of the mods, but Vince is not that specific in exactly what he does. Some describe his 8150 mods as an upgrade to 8200 specs, but most believe the modified 8150s to be superior to the stock 8200. He mentioned nonspecific upgrades to the preamp power supply, power supply, and phono stage, as well as use of "premium audio parts", which I assume means things like upgraded caps. Ultimately, if you know the 8150 and know Vince's reputation, it should be enough to know that he gave this amp his "ultimate mod." When done, he wrote me:

Well......for some reason, the more difficult this unit became, the more I was determined to make it the best yet. I feel I have done so. I am listening to it now all burned in adjusted, etc. See the pic with it playing Holley Cole. It is open so I can check voltages during the day but it is absolutely stable now. It sounds as good as the $18,000 MSB monoblocs with the same amount of slam. It sounds a little better than the Plinius SA250 in the mids and highs, the SA250 has a little more slam (not much) into the Revels but they need a really big amp to get the full whack out of them.. The mod I did for you will become my ultimate mod. I have well over $1,000 extra work in this unit but I don't regret working on it. I am one of those people that has to prevail over my goal. I think you will be more than thrilled.

This was always an incredible amp, but with these upgrades, it is absolutely stunning! And, it matches beautifully with my EAD Ultradisc 2000 CD player, listed separately.
