According to Rotel, the RB-1080 stands near the peak of the company’s line of two-channel amplifiers. Users hear audio content, whether it's music on a CD or a movie on a Blu-ray DVD, the way it was meant to be heard with this high-current amplifier.This Rotel power amplifier is designed to put out 550 watts of maximum power for any auto stereo system. What's more, Rotel's own proprietary toroidal transformer delivers separate power to each of the channels. It splits that supply between the two channels with an output of 200 watts per channel. All channels are driven unbridged from 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 0.03 percent THD (total harmonic distortion) into 8 Ohms. Each channel also gets its own voltage regulators, capacitor banks, and rectifiers. With a frequency response ranging from 15 Hz to 100 kHz, the Rotel stereo amp produces a truer and crisper sound that listeners truly appreciate. A 1,000 damping factor gives it the incredible capability to capture even the most stubborn hi-fi signals. Then, it regulates diaphragm motion with absolute precision for excellent audio quality. Also providing instant response to these more challenging hi-fi signals are British BHC Slit Foil storage capacitors with lightning-fast charge and discharge times.As much attention was paid to form as to function in the design of these amps. For example, they feature front panel heat sinks that add a stylish visual accent that blends into your decor. At the same time, these heat sinks augment heat dissipation. That makes these amps particularly useful in closed or cramped spaces. Situated between these two stylish heat sinks is a simple polished front face with just a power switch and light along with second protection light. The amp is designed with its power light located on the front panel to let the user know when it is working properly. The protection indicator light then shows when the internal circuits have shut down.Color-coded speaker connection plug-ins on the back panel of the amp allow for easy wire connection to most speakers. The interface boasts switchable balanced and unbalanced inputs (XLR and RCA) to provide massive system configuration flexibility. That means it connects to a wide array of audio components, including home theater systems. This amplifier also boasts separate inputs and outputs for 12-volt "trigger" signals, as well as a conveniently detachable AC cord. That makes the unit particularly useful in integrated systems offering complete remote control capabilities. The heavy-duty dual binding posts support maximized use of even the most advanced speaker cables. This Rotel power amplifier measures 17.13 inches by 5.5 inches by 15 inches and weighs 36.8 pounds. It has an input sensitivity of 1.5 volts and a signal load impedance of 32 kilohms. It also offers a signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio of 166 dB. The Rotel RB-1080 two-channel high-current amp comes with its own driver software on CD-ROM and DVD-ROM. More than just a manual, this software also provides a detailed 3-D video guided tour of the inner workings and use of the amp.
