SAE Mark IVD power amplifier, a James Bongiorno design, new power supply caps and connectors.

100 watts per channel into 8 ohms, 200 watts per channel into 4 ohms, amp is very stable with low impedance loads.

With an input impedance of 50K, the amp is well suited for passive preamps. My Lightspeed Attenuator passive preamp is a great match.

The amp was purchased from the original owner, and has been local to Utah. The low humidity environment has kept the amp free of any chassis oxidation. This is a very clean example.

New Conex 5-way binding posts and new Conex gold plated RCA jacks have been installed. The original power cord has been replaced with a higher gauge two blade cord.

The original 10,000 uF power supply capacitors have been replaced with new manufacture 18,000 uF can capacitors. Rectifier has been replaced with a HEXFRED bridge. The original feet have been replaced with large E-A-R Specialty Composites isolation feet.

The SAE has a new lamp for the power light and the unit has been bench tested and bias and idle have been set to factory spec. All internal protection fuses have been upgraded to higher ratings as documented in a service bulletin from SAE. The silver plate on the rear of the unit is from a factory service visit during its life with the original owner.

Cosmetics are very nice. The front face is clean, however the lower right corner has been bent and then straightened. The photos indicate that the issue is not too noticeable. There is a very slight mechanical hum from the power transformer, but the amp is dead quiet through the speakers.

An original owner’s manual and a photocopy of the service manual will accompany purchase at the listed price.

Dimensions are 17 x 5 ¾ x 13 inches and the weight is 33 lbs. Shipping weight will be closer to 38 lbs.

Amp will be double boxed for shipment, and unit will be insured for the full purchase price. Package will be sent via FedEx Ground and will be specified as signature required.
