From the glory days of Sansui, this was built in 1977 and has been fully restored earlier this year. Rated at 85 w/ch but may easily reach 100w/ch as the amp is way overbuilt.
"This unit has all new electrolytic capacitors, new audio grade Elna Silmic II and Nichicon caps in the main amps, the preamp and phono preamp section. The 4 huge main filter caps were replaced with new Cornell Dublier, with new polypropylene caps added in the secondary power supply. New thermal pads were installed on all transistors needing them. The two large 2 watt resistors were relocated from the main amp boards as they get very hot and damage the main filter caps, which was the main problem seen over the years. All resistors were checked for value and replaced as needed. All of the old glue has been removed and cleaned off. The controls all shot with Deoxit and all work well. The bias was set to the original factory mV settings. All display lights work as they should."
As you can see from the photos, the amp is in excellent condition, one of the nicest and most attractive style with the array of controls and red accents. The desirable rack handles add to the appearance and cost me $75. You can see on the back that there are jacks for preamp-out to power a separate amp or subwoofer, and main-in jacks from a separate preamp!
The phono stage is excellent as well. I used it with a 20 dB SUT and my Thorens 126 with 0.5 mV Shelter 90x sang sweetly, very satisfying, & though I am used to my $3k phono stage, this held its own. I bought this without really having any place for it in my 2 systems, but it has been fun. I have been using low watt tube amps and high sensitivity speakers for so long that this is just too much amp for me. It is dead quiet , no hiss or hum and will be packed well. Shipping is a flat $50. rated 7 for age
I also have a matching rebuilt TU-717 tuner that I would like to sell together with this amp. I am listing that for $425. If you buy both I will lower the combined price to $1100 plus $100 shipping for both
