We are glad to have the Son of Ampzilla MK2 available. It has been a long but worthwhile wait as this baby Ampzilla is 90% as good for 40% of the cost. It puts out 220 watts into 8 ohms and 350 into 4 ohms. It is fully balanced and servo controlled and has XLR and RCA inputs. It uses a 2000VA transformer with 100,000 MF of capacitance. If you are looking for a state of the art amp at a reasonable cost this is it. On July 1st the amp goes to $4200.00 so now is a great time to buy one.
We have one 3 day old RMAF show sample amp in perfect 10/10 shape for only $2,790.00
In the latest review from Hifi Plus they sum with:
"To sum up, my time with the Son of Ampzilla II has been both a revelation and a privilege. I have never found such a high performing solid-state amplifier at this price point. Generally, it would take a big step up in price to reach these sonic heights. It is also my first opportunity to spend significant time with a James Bongiorno design. But there are so many good designers and so little time to sample their work, I suppose! Highly Recommended."

In the 10audio.cm review Jerry sums with:
"The Son of Ampzilla II performs at the top of its price level and above
with a very neutral, near-characterless sound. I found it honors music
at least as well as the Levinson No. 532h, Parasound JC-1, Manley Neo
Classic 250 or Bryston 7BSST2. It seems more dynamic than the Levinson,
lower distortion - in the audible transition from Class A to Class AB
operation that helps to define the sound of the JC-1 - than the
Parasound, a bit more extended in the treble than the Manley, and more
realistic and true sounding than the Bryston monoblocks."
"More than most other preamps or amplifiers that I can recall under
$10,000, these new components from SST deserve and actually demand your
attention. All components have some intrinsic character, but the
particular tendencies of these components are minor. I could live with
either or both of these fine components. The SST Thoebe II preamplifier
and Son of Ampzilla II amplifier are screaming bargains at their
relatively modest asking prices."

In the 6 moons review they said: "In the final analysis, the SoA handle might be just that one 't' shy of
SotA. That'd be shorthand for state of the art and utterly brilliant at

In the Absolute Sound review of the Ampzilla Paul Seydor said:
"The Ambrosia and Ampzilla are by any
standard statement products that can take their place among the finest
amps and preamps that money can buy. At $17,000 ($8500.00 each) the combo
is far from inexpensive, though that figure does include two excellent
phono preamps and a headphone amplifier. Reflect, too, that there are
competing electronics exceeding $100,000 that give you far less of
everything. To those who find it impossible to believe components priced
as reasonably as these can possibly be as good as those costing a whole
lot more, I only say "they are". Please audition with your mind as open
as your ears." If I were closing up shop tomorrow as a reviewer I would
buy them and live happily ever after."

"I had never experienced this effect with any other system.
It was a continuance painted on a remarkably deep center stage. The [Son
of] Ampzilla II turns out to complement all the flavors and nuance
painted by the Thoebe II."
— Ron Nagle, Enjoy The Music
"The [Son of] Ampzilla brings a burning sense of immediacy to
the table—one that I don’t recall hearing from any other amplifier.
When the CD ended, I realized I was breathless. It had been like I was
at a concert. I wasn’t paying attention to anything except the music,
but I did notice the [Son of] Ampzilla’s extremely deep soundstage and
imaging to die for. The soundstage extended from around each side and
from top to bottom. It was incredible."

From the website:
This redesigned Son is the third generation in concept and design and
features many new ideas and improvements over previous generations.
However, we made sure to respect and retain the traditional circuit
topology that gives the Son its revered sonic signature. The end result
is a masterful fusion of classic and cutting-edge.
The new Son boasts an exceedingly low noise floor and the same power supply capacity as in our flagship Ampzilla 2000 Second Edition amp.
Another noteworthy feature is a unique grounding procedure that insures
absolutely no ground loops. The measured power output of the new Son of
Ampzilla II is a potent 220 watts/channel into 8Ω (double the original
Son of Ampzilla). And the listening pleasure? Immeasurable.
- Completely balanced input-to-output with full four-quadrant differential push-pull feedback from both sides of the speaker
- Double the number of power transistors per channel as the original Son of Ampzilla
- Completely servo-controlled
- Combination input jack allows for on-the-fly switching between an unbalanced or balanced input
- 2000 VA power supply capacity with totally independent windings and power supplies for each channel
