Up for sale is the legendary Yamaha C-2X solid state preamplifier. The C-2X was Yamaha's top of the line preamplifier sold from 1985 to 1988 with an original price of $2,130. This is a serious preamplifier which offers all the features an audiophile would ever need. My favorite feature being the phono: It has 1 phono dedicated MM input and another selectable MM/MC phono input with fixed or adjustable impedance or capacity. The C-2X is an incredible sounding preamplifier which in my experience mates well with a variety of amplifiers. I've used it with everything from McIntosh MC40's to high power solid state amplifiers with great results. The only reason I am selling this unit is because I have two of them :)
Everything on this preamplfier functions flawlessly. When I first purchased this unit a few years back I had my technician check it out (which I do with all equipment) and it did not need anything. Outputs are dead quiet with no hum. All potentiometers and switches operate smooth and without any crackling.
I purchased this unit from the original owner who was a meticulous audiophile. Unit is in excellent condition and includes the original box and manual. Condition is just about as good as it gets for a unit of this age. Faceplate is perfect. There were two blemishes I took close up pictures of. One is on the top of the unit. This scratch is so minor it can't be felt by a finger. Also there is an abrasion on the bottom left side of the unit. Very hard to see as it is so low. Also wanted to mention the top of the unit has some spottiness on the metal. I think this was from the original foam packing material. This unit was stored in the original box for the majority of its life and I think it had a minor affect on the metal. Overall I doubt you'll find a cleaner C-2X.
I have not done any selling on Audiogon before but have sold hundred of pieces of vintage audio gear on eBay. Please checkout my eBay account - username: 74porsche914. 100% feedback. I have sold and shipped 100's of heavy pieces of equipment and know how to pack properly. This unit will be double boxed with a new box around the original one.
