The SCD-XA5400ES is Sony’s latest (and probably last) high-end SACD player. It is Sony’s only model to offer balanced stereo analog outputs in addition to multi-channel DSD over HDMI. This particular XA5400ES was built in December 2010 and purchased by me brand new in August 2011. I’ve compared it with two other SACD players during this time period, so the Sony was only used part-time and probably not broken in yet. The original packaging and all accessories are included. Now that the XA5400ES is discontinued, this is as close as you’ll come to a finding new one. 2/12/12: Price reduced to $900 obo. Payment by check or money order preferred, but I will also accept Paypal if you're willing to pay the 3% fee.
Questions for the seller |
---|
what did you find in your comparison with other sacd players? Hello. I compared the Sony to a McIntosh MCD-301 and Marantz SA-11S2. My conclusion is that the Sony gave the most detailed, analytical presentation of the three and sounded "clearer" than the McIntosh. The Marantz sounds more "laid back," which will work well in some systems but not others. Overall, I think the Sony is a killer player for the price, as long as you value unvarnished sound quality. |
