Volcano was AudioQuest's top copper speaker cable, and a reference for a reason. Compared to Gibraltar, there is more density of information. When Volcano was discontinued, AQ went a while before replacing it in the lineup. If you compare Volcano to the current offerings, I believe Volcano's construction is more complex. (The newer line is more like Gibraltar with its more cost-effective twin-lead construction.) These don't come up often on the used market, and are still highly sought after.
This pair is spade-to-spade, silver plating over red copper conductors, all Perfect Surface Plus copper wire. The jacketing is tight with no fraying. However, the DBS pack has a scuff from routing (see photo). These are garden hose-sized, stiff, and heavy speaker cables. Wimpy binding posts and lightweight components need not apply.
If you are running less than a reference class system, see my other listing for a pair of Gibraltar, which are very strong contenders for the money.
I have some Columbia and Colorado ICs I will also be listing. Columbia are a great pairing with Gibraltar, and Colorado with Volcano.
