JBL L-101 Vintage Speakers with S1 "Theater Sound" System

SUMMARY: Pair of fully functional vintage JBL Lancer 101 (L-101) speakers with marble tops. 14-inch woofers produce bass down to 30 Hz. Serial numbers 48185 and 48202. Good condition with cosmetic blemishes apparent in photos. (Conservatively marked as fair condition.) These are a steal at this price. The Audiogon Bluebook shows these sold for over $1600 in 2009 and 2011. The component set alone recently sold for about $475 at auction on eBay (http://r.ebay.com/p1wPiS). They were purchased new by my father in the early 1970s.

DRIVERS: The drivers are the S1 kit described on page 18 of the 1974 catalogue available to view online at http://www.lansingheritage.org/images/jbl/catalogs/1974-home/page18.jpg. The system is referred to as "Theater Sound," and they sound great with both movies and music. The bass driver is the LE14A 14". The high frequency driver is the LE175DLH driver/horn/lens assembly.

NOTES: These are heavy at about 75 lbs per speaker, so I request local pick up. These are a wonderful set of speakers full of vintage appeal (particularly the grills). Unfortunately my small apartment (thin walls and floors) have relegated them to a life of relative quietude. They need a home where they can open up, and I need something smaller and more neighbor friendly with a smaller bass profile. This is not about achieving maximum dollar. I'm looking for a buyer that can appreciate these in a larger space.
