For sale or trade. I have been a Spendor devotee since 1980 and have owned every model of the Classic series. IMHO, these SP1/2Rs are the very best of the bunch -- even surpassing the SP100s and nudging out the previous generation SP1/2E.
These are pristine except for a very tiny imperfection to one corner that is difficult to capture with my camera. They have been been driven with Cary tubes their entire life in a smoke-free dedicated small listening room. After trying my 3/1s up in the room, I believe that a smaller monitor actually is better suited to my nearfield listening set-up. Therefore, in addition to an outright sale, I would consider possible trades for a Spendor 3/1P, a 3/5, or a similar great small monitor like the Tyler Taylo Reference.
Before buying these, I A/B'd them extensively in my listening room next to my SP1/2Es and felt this next generation indeed is an improvement on what is arguably one of the greatest monitors ever made. Search out the old TAS review for further reading. I have not heard the new "R2" version, so I cannot comment on them. However, TAS this past summer did a thorough review of the speaker that is worth your time to seek out.
Included in the sale are the dedicated top-of-the-line four post Sound Anchor stands ($675). I have the original crates for the speakers naturally. The monstrously heavy stands would be packed well in sturdy new boxes by my UPS professional.
The current list price on the speakers alone is $6,795. As I would be more than happy to keep them, low ball offers will be politely ignored.
