"The London Philharmonic Society commissioned the Symphony No. 3 from Saint-SaÎns, much as it had Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Saint-SaÎns directed the first performance in London on May 19, 1886. Although he lived until 1921, Saint-SaÎns would not compose another symphony. He later explained: "With it I have given all I could give. What I did I could not achieve again." He had intended to dedicate the piece to Liszt, but the score was published after Liszt's death with the inscription, "¡ la Memoire de Franz Liszt." - AMG.

Outstanding detail and tonality. The sound is big, warm and lush yet with extremely fine detail. Micro-detail is also very strong, especially among the Strings. Hall acoustics and ambience are clearly captured and realistically presented. The soundstage is wide and deep with very strong imaging.
Surface noise consists of 'ticks' - mainly at the beginning of Side 1 (intro) and then randomly afterward. Some of these will probably diminish after a few plays. No noise at all on Side 2.

Each record is washed on a VPI cleaning machine using a proprietary 3-5 agent process which is determined by the needs of the individual record. Each record is then listened to 100% to insure that the posted description is exactly what you can expect to get.
