"Sometimes you like vibrations... sometimes you prefer stability."
That's Gregitek’s motto. Gregitek from Italy, manufacturer of high-end isolation footers, platforms, component racks, speaker stands, cables and loudspeakers.
With over 40 years experience with industrial vibration control, designer Gregorio Giust has applied his engineering skills to unique resonance control designs fantastically finished and handmade in the finest Italian art.
For instance... Gregitek's StabTower is a multi-level anti-vibration racking system made of a premium wood isolating platforms. Manufactured from handmade instrument grade ash heartwood staves and carefully chosen for tonality. A similar method is used by the best Italian piano manufacturers. Finished with six coats of transparent varnish cover the "red" or "black" stained platform. The GregiTek StabTower is available in a 3-level and 4-level version. The StabTower-2 provides 5 platforms on 3 levels. One level Amp Stands are also available as well as the single Stab1 platform for source devices and tube preamps.
There's more to the system than meets the eye - the underside of the top platform (generally used for the source component) reveals a suspended chromium plated steel disc, which is a special design only available from Gregitek. Its purpose is to dissipate vibration, and the result is astonishing. The disc serves as "dynamic damper" by reacting in the opposite phase to the vibrations entering the platform and canceling these vibrations out. In addition the top platform is extra isolated from the rest of the structure by GregiTek's "Planetary Balls" which is a brass encased bearing system that also counteracts horizontal vibrations.
The StabTower is not only a spectacular piece of audio furniture, but is also a highly effective anti-vibration system that will improve the sound of any system.
Below is a comparison between the Stab 2 Tower Speaker Stands and conventional speaker stands (Sonus Faber) used as support for Sonus Faber monitor speakers. The test frequency used was 60 Hz.
Notice how the noise spectrum of the Stab 2 Tower Speaker Stands (above line) is much cleaner and has a lower noise level than when the conventional speaker stands were used. Test results courtesy of videohifi.com.
Kari Nevalainen (6moons.com review):
"...Gregitek's Stab1 (+ Aerius) equipment platform is a serious anti-vibration product. It's based on solid technical knowledge of vibrations and their elimination. It's superbly made. It's aesthetically stunning. It's practical to use. It doesn't cost much in audiophile terms. And if a hifi component -- especially a CDP -- suffers from vibration-induced problems, this platform is bound to bring aid..."
Customer feedback (Stab1):
"...it's hard for me to believe that the amazing sound that I'm getting now is the result of simply replacing my $800 Symposium pad and bearings with the Gregitek platform and feet, but that's the only system change that I have made... there is a very significant improvement in clarity and realness as well as elegance in design."
