Amazing Adire Audio Shiva, 12" powered subwoofer; 1/2 of list price

Up for sale, I have an absolutely amazing Adire Audio Shiva (12”) subwoofer, which is powered with a Parts Express (#300-794) 250-watt plate amplifier with built-in crossover.

I built this exactly to Adire’s specs for the 88.5 liter sealed Shiva box, which yields a nominal system Q of 0.6, and a system that is ideally suited for audio reproduction, with very good extension and a tight, fast audiophile sound. This alignment produces an in-room f3 of 27.4 Hz and an in-room f8 of 17.3 Hz.

The box is tremendously over-engineered, with extensive bracing throughout, and the sub weighs roughly 100 lbs. The box is constructed of ¾” MDF, and it was then veneered with real Bubinga, stained with Minwax, and sealed with Polyurethane. If you rap on the box, it literally sounds (and feels) like you’re hitting a block of solid wood. The box dimensions are 22"H x 18"W x 18"D.

I used this for the last 8 years or so with my 2-channel hi-end setup, and have always been delighted with its performance. I tried the sub briefly with our home theater, and was astonished with the visceral nature of the bass output. Unfortunately, moving to a smaller home has necessitated downsizing of my system, and the subwoofer needs to go. This subwoofer cost me roughly $550 to build, just for the parts. I will sell it for $250 (includes PayPal fees). Unfortunately, due to the size and weight of these, I can only offer local pick-up, but I’m willing to drive about an hour to meet the buyer. Although the sub is in great shape, and look very nice, I have rated it conservatively at 7/10, since I built it myself...

I am also willing to take the sub apart and sell the driver and amp separately, to allow shipping. I am asking $75 (½ of the list price) for the Shiva driver (plus $15 towards shipping), and $75 (½ of the list price) for the plate amp (plus $10 towards shipping).
