A great opportunity here to acquire one of rarest "state of the art" super tables on the planet.

The wood plinthed version of the Japanese Melco was first introduced to the trade sometime around 1980. Primarily to demonstrate and compare the superiority of Fidelity Research Tonearms and MC cartridges to the competition.
The 27 ply baltic Birch plinth accomodates 2 tone arms and supports the bearing housing and massive 46 pound gun metal platter.
All Melco tables employed a titanium alloy bearing tip and thrust plate, each machined specifically to match the massive platter. The platter is damped with a pliable resin material underneath.

The platter is driven by a loop of fine silk thread or can also be used with a loop of 1/4 inch reel to reel recording tape.

The arm boards presently on the table were pre drilled to accomodate :
[1] A 12 inch Fidelity Research FR66 tonearms
[2] A Sumiko 800DC [aka THE ARM]
*Both arms have already been sold*.

Optional tonearms and arm boards available:
[1] Fidelity Research FR-64fx [factory silver wired version]
[2] Sme IV with cardas golden cross tonearm wire.

* Either tonearm offered at $1450 with the table.

The synchronus drive motor is housed in a block of Italian marble.

Note: The motor and is set for 120 volts. A resistor change and/or spindle may be required for use in other countries.
I used the string drive with an additional flywheel [not supplied]

The table is in excellent condition cosmetically, the bearing is dead quiet. Both tonearms are in showroom condition. I would rate it a conservative 7 on the audiogon scale to be safe.

My table was originally imported by Globe Audio [canada] and used for auditioning the Fidelity Research FR64 and FR66 tone arms and Moving coil cartridges. I am the original owner...... acquired from Globe when they closed up shop in the late 80's.

Shipping cost will be substantial as the total package weighs in near 70 lbs.

Serious parties please! First come first served.
