Topaz model 91002-11 ultra isolating line conditioner is a true isolation transformer designed to isolate noise and harmonics with 126dB of noise suppresion.
Rated 2500VA (or watts) continuous output and will handle 500% surge current.
The VA or power rating is calculated by dividing VA by line voltage. The transformer has dual primary and dual secondary windings that can be connected in series for 200~250 volts, or in parallel for 100~125 volts. Secondary at 250 volts connection, the output current is 10 amps, and secondary at 125 volts connection, the output rating is 20 amps. Being that there are two 120 volt secondaries, you can also use them to power two amplifiers rated at 1250 VA (watts), or one output for digital equipment, and the other output for analog front end equipment. If your amps need a lot of current, then use one transformer for each amp, and a third transformer for the front end equipment, which is the way I am using them.
There is no loss of power with these transformers cause they are a very low impedance design wound with square buss wire, rather than the common round wire used on avarage transformers.
The method of the Topaz design is that the primary winding is wound completely separate from the secondary winding and spaced apart so that there is abolutely no noise transfer from the primary winding.
The capacitance between is an amazing 0.005 Picrofarrads! The transformer is tested to supress a 6000 volt spike on the primary with only 0.006 volts measured at the output. No other type of transformer made can isolate this good. These transformers were originally manufactured by Topaz, and later bought out by square-D. The most popular use of these transformers are used in hospitals on critical equipment, test labs, and by any company that requires ultra low noise for very sensitive equipment. Some audiophiles know about these transformers, like me, and have great results with using them on audio equipment.
I purchased many of these transformers from a surplus dealer many years ago, and have too many extras, so I need to sell some off. I have a total of 11 for sale, and will sell one off at a time, and place a new ad everytime I sell one. retail price on these transformers is $800. Ebay sellers price them for $400 and up. So my asking price is very fair. The transformers have screw terminals for input and output termination, so you are responsible for making the power connectons to them with your own cords. Weight is 60 pounds, and the dimmensions are 8"W x 6.5"H x 12"D. Being that this is a large transformer, it does have a low level hum but not noticable from 6 feet away. Efficiency is 95%, so it draws very little with no current. The transformers rating has nothing to do with idle current. It is the rating of the transformers load output.
The transformers were from surplus, so there will be some scratches on them, but you can touch them up with spray paint if you like. The photo shown is of one of them in better cosmetic condition. Any questions, just ask. I use these transformers on everything, and they really do improve on the dark back ground, and improve sound stage. Even on my LCD TV, I can notice a picture quality improvement. Sharper, more detailed image. The price of other line conditioners out there, including regenerators, this is a true bargan for how good it is. These ultra isolators, in my opinion, are about as good as regenerated AC power!
