This is the latest and greatest incarnation of the renown Transfiguration Phoenix. Just broken in. approx 150 hrs. New as of December 2011.

Those of you lucky enough to have owned the Transfiguration cartridges will know just how special the revamp of the line is. Yoshioka San has built off his triumphs in the design of the Orpheus L and has adapted much of the technologies involved into the Axia and Phoenix. This current re-launch yields the third version of each of these highly regarded cartridges.

The revised version of an Axia has the same 5N silver
wire and neodymium magnets as the ones for the Phoenix. The modified Phoenix , using the similar special core for the Orpheus L and a new 5N thicker gauge silver wire to be made in the United States to Yoshioka San’s specifications:

                              Internal impedance (very important!)

Axia (old)                8 ohms
version III (new)                  4 ohms

Phoenix (old)           4 ohms
version III (new)                  2 ohms

Both of the new version III’s have an ability to resolve musical detail, with excellent air and an ability to retrieve information, especially in soft passages and where subtle musical harmonics are very important.

Their output voltages (0.4 mV, 3.54cm/sec., 1kHz)) remain unchanged. The Orpheus has been discontinued as the new Phoenix bests it in performance! The Phoenix III ($4,250.00) has made the ($8,000.00) Orpheus L redundant.

The 'new' Axia and Phoenix are the most musically honest and most technically performing cartridges at any price range.
