Cary Audio Design 805C Single Ended Triode Monoblocks: 50 watts of pure SET magic!

A pair of Cary 805C single ended triode monoblocks in very good condition with the original double boxes, wooden crates, manual and all accessories.

The amps offer 50 wpc of pure single ended triode bliss.

The amps will come with a new set of tubes. The 845s and Philips 6SL7s are barely burned in with less than 40 hours of use only. The Electroharmonix gold grid 300Bs are brand new. I will also include a pair of Sophia Electric 6SL7s.

For $180 extra I can include a pair of mesh plate globe 300Bs. These were bought from Upscale Audio and have less then 40 hours of use. All tubes test at or above nominal new levels on my calibrated Hickok 800 tester.

This particular pair is the latest iteration of 805Cs prior to the introduction of 805AE and is likely the best sounding version of these classic amps. The amps have the Audio One coupling caps and use a single 6SL7 instead of double 6SN7s used in 805AEs. This results in lower gain but overall a simpler circuit. I did have the 805AEs in my system for a direct comparison and preferred the 805C for their slightly more transparent and more pure midrange. Also, with my active tube preamp the 805AEs' higher gain resulted in too much noise being passed from the preamp. The 805Cs were dead quiet.

Sparingly used in a smoke-free, pet-pet free and child-free environment, they have never required any kind of service. One amp is mint, the other one has a couple of small scratches on the back and a couple of screws on the bottom plate have broken heads. Otherwise the amps are perfect, work flawlessly and sound amazing.

I am also selling a very special Cary SLP-05 preamplifier. This particular SLP-05 has been tweaked to perfection with over $2000 of custom modifications and extras.
