For sale is a matched pair of Cary CAD-50m Mk. 2 Signature power amplifiers. Sequential serial numbers 970210 and 979211. I bought these amps from an Audiogon member about five years ago and enjoyed them in my system until my first kid was born - the exposed tubes are not the most kid-friendly design. The amps have been stored away in their original boxes since then. I unboxed and connected them last weekend, they sound amazing and it's a bit painful to let them go. But I need to honest with myself - there's no realistic way I'll be listening to these any time in the next few years.
The amps are a dual monoblock design, and built like an absolute tank. I think each one weighs about 25 pounds. These are by far the best power amplifiers I have owned or heard, and I am really sad to see them go. This version accepts both KT88s and 6550s. I have used both over the past couple of years, and it just comes down to your personal preference. I have also confirmed with Cary that KT120s can be used, although I have not tried them myself.
