These Cary monoblocks are in excellent working condition. Originally built as 572-SEs (see faceplate), the scarcity of the 572 tube led to having them factory-converted to 300Bs (and 6SL7 drivers). Cary says the output transformers are essentially the same, and these sound great. They have incredible midrange presence and transparency, but at their 12-15W, they just do not have enough power for my Harbeth SLH5+s. They were fantastic on Zus and other higher efficiency speakers I have used. They were sent to Cary for a "tune-up" in 2008, after developing a turn-on thump, and have worked flawlessly for me ever since. Now they are just sitting on the shelf, so need to go to some lucky new owner. They are point to point wired and will last another generation or two.
Condition is very good with no notable dings, scratches, dents or corrosion. The only flaws of any sort I could find are above the IEC outlet on the back of one, and a pinpoint nick on the left edge of the faceplate of the other. Not noticeable in normal use. See photos.
Will include the ElectroHarmonix 300B tubes and vintage 6SL7 driver and input tubes and 5U4 GB rectifiers. Will include Herbie's Tube Dampers for the 6SL7s and rectifiers (retail $100 total).
Buyer may purchase the pair of low hours TJ Full Music 300B/n Mesh Plate tubes for an extra $150. One tube has a crack in its ceramic base, which does not effect sound, although it is a tight fit.
