Cary Audio Design SLP-05 Preamplifier with over $2,500 of extras!

Current retail on this amazing preamp is $8,995. With $2,500 worth of mods and extras this is a $11,500 preamp and it sounds like one! One of the finest preamplifiers I have ever heard.

This particular SLP-05 comes with upgrades and enhancements that result in vastly superior performance to the stock unit.
The upgrade was done by ASi Teknologies (check their website, they continue to offer modifications to the SLP-05). All the major capacitors in the unit were replaced with Cardas Golden Caps and the original main signal path wiring was replaced with Cardas. There were also modifications made to the power supply, where Rubicon caps were substituted for the cheap stock ones. The stock 5AR4 tube was replaced with an Amperex branded Mullard from the 1960's - arguably the best 5AR4 variant ever made. This custom mod cost was more than $1,500, not including the tube, and made a huge difference in the sound quality, providing smoother highs, better bass and a wider deeper more holographic soundstage.

The unit comes with other tweaks:
Hi-Fi Tuning Premium Black fuses
Silver Star fuses
Black Diamond Racing Carbon cone feet and bases for vibration control

Tuberoller's dream. The following tubes will be included:
- Stock 6SN7s
- Matched sexted of TungSol 6SN7s
- Matched sexted of Sophia Electric 6SN7s
- Stock and Mullard 5AR5/GZ34 rectifiers
The tubes have low usage and all tested at or close to nominal new on my calibrated Hickok 800 tester.

The preamp is in mint condition and works flawlessly. The original boxes, remote and manual are included.
