James Burgess 45 SET Amp [Expired]

no longer for sale

You’re looking at a single-ended 45 amplifier built by James Burgess. It was his personal amp, and a delight to listen to. Very quiet on 96db speakers. Cosmetics are a solid 8. I'm including a basic set of tubes to get the new owner started. You'll probably want to upgrade for the best sound. Mr. Burgess summarizes the build as follows: "The chassis is from a push-pull 45 amp made in 1929. I had the lower part powder coated gold and the three transformer covers coated in gloss black. Everything else was new at the time of the build. The circuit is based on the "Bugle" by Gordon Rankin. In place of the 6072A driver tube I used 5670’s( AKA 2C51 and Western Electric 396A). Both halves of these triodes are used in SRPP configuration. Also, my power supply is a bit different. The rectifier is a 5V4, but 5AR4 will work as well. Very low hum with my 96dB speakers.” Features: Magnequest power transformers Transcendar 5K output transformers Solen power supply caps (no electrolytics) AudioNote copper foil paper-in-oil coupling caps Black Gate cathode bypass caps Cardas RCA jacks Master power switch Hum pots Tubes included: (1) RCA 5V4G (1) Super Silvertone 45 (1) GE 45 (2) Western Electric WE396A I'll consider reasonable offers, although I feel my asking price is fair. I'm not interested in trades, and low ball offers will be politely ignored. Flat rate shipping is for FedEx ground only, and includes insurance. If you prefer a different carrier, I can probably accommodate the request. Please allow two business days for handling.
