PRICE DROP !!! This is the most current version and is current model. No Lamm M2.2 monos have come up on Audiogon for over a year. This new price puts these amps way below Audiogon Bluebook which is outdated and too low already since Lamm has raised prices for this model. I am the second owner of these wonderful amps. I purchased them about a year ago from a professional audio reviewer as they were his personal reference amps. He only sold them because since he was constantly reviewing new products he didn't have much time to listen to his own system. I can give you his name and you can read his published review online. He bought the review pair of amps.
The only reason for selling is that my new speakers have internal 1000 watt amps to power each subwoofer so I just don't need this kind of power any more.
I plan to experiment with lower power tube amps.
Below is description from the Lamm site.
Model M2.2 is the most powerful amplifier in the line of LAMM hybrid and solid-state audio equipment. It is one of the best creations of its designer's professional career -- a result of years of intensive research directed at attaining the most accurate reproduction of recorded music.
The M2.2 is a masterful blend of design and engineering simplicity. It assures the recreation of a three dimensional sound stage in the home, recording studio, etc. without boundaries and limitations. A distinctive feature of the M2.2 is the extraordinary transparency and localization of perceived sound.
It is a pure class A amplifier, with the exception of the output stage which operates in a highly biased A/AB mode. The M2.2 incorporates high-speed MOS-FET transistors in the output stage with no overall feedback. Special switch-selectable biasing circuit maintains the optimal idle current of the output stage for all load conditions between 1-16 Ohms. It is a hybrid design with the one specially selected 6922 vacuum triode.
The M2.2 is conservatively rated to deliver 220 Watts into 8 and 4 Ohms in a highly biased A/AB mode (high and low impedance settings, respectively); 440 Watts into 2 Ohms, and 600 Watts into 1 Ohm (low impedance setting), continuous. The M1.2 can drive any known speaker. The harmonic structure remains intact regardless of the speaker load, while the extreme clarity is maintained at all power levels.
I do not have original boxes as I picked up the amps in my car when I bought them. They will be expertly double boxed though and carefully shipped.
