ModWright LLC SWL-9.0 se Black, extra tubes

You will not find a better line stage for anywhere near this price. Absolutely silent (-120 dB), superb valve tone and decay, but no fuzziness or rolled-off bass or treble. Very neutral, superlative sound.

This unit was NEW in 12/2015 and I bought it from the original owner. I no longer have any need for an active line stage - or I'd keep this one.

Original box & packing in great shape and remote included. I'm quoting my seller here regarding the tubes included. I used only the 5AR4 and GE 5687s; all are included.

"Original tubes from Modwright: (1) Sovtek 5ar4 and (2) NOS matched GE 5687s. These are Dan Wright’s personal favorite preamp tubes. I tried a bunch of others and settled on these as well. I’m also including: 1x JJ 5ar4 (I actually like this a little more than the Sovtek but it touches the top cover of the unit so you would have to listen with the top off or punch a hole in the top in order to use this tube. 2x matched JTL Black Plate 5687. 2x NOS unmatched Raytheon 5687. 1x Sylvania 5687. 2x matched NOS JAN 7044. Upgraded hifi fuse (generic OEM manufacturer of “hifi” fuses but definitely a slight upgrade in sound).

The 7044 are compatible with this pre and have a very different “high energy” characteristic. It’s really interesting because with bright speakers they’re too much but they will totally change the character of darker speakers and turn them into serious contenders. All of the additional tubes are about $250 worth."
