The X-1 is a legendary amp, this pair was made in 4-9-02 per labeling on the original factory boxes. I am selling as part of a downsize and money raising effort- these amps are in simply great condition. The 7 is for age and some smudges, there are no significant scratches or outright dings. They have also just returned from the factory where the 300B teflon and silver bases were replaced and the amps cleaned up and bench checked by designer Gordon Rankin. The $500 receipt for this work will be included in packaging.

I asked Gordon what 300B tube he would recommend from today's market and he said the JJs. Thought as long as I was in touch I'd get this recommendation from the source. The tubes now consist of 300B Electro-Harmonix and matched Sovteks for the 6C45PI input/drivers and 5AR4 rectifiers. I replaced one of the 5AR4’s that went out with a matched pair so have the other original for a spare. At the same time I bought a pair of the 6C45PIs to have on hand which I’ll send along too of course.

There is a very informative review at http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0702/wavelengthcardinalx1.htm . It contains some direct info from Gordon Rankin on the amp design and choice of tubes. The author of this 2002 review had actually owned a pair of earlier Cardinals for 8 years and sent them in to be upgraded to X-1 status. This is a quite informative review, more than just the usual cheerleading. If you go to the Wavelength web site you’ll see that the Cardinals are still in production using same tubes with relatively moderate design and cosmetic changes. Current retail is $8,500.

TERMS- You should be paypal verified there or have good feedback here to use paypal. I will cover shipping and any paypal fees. The $3750 is your final delivered price with no extra fees. Original double box system in good condition, there are two double boxes, one for each amp. Feel free to ask any questions. If you want to talk money use the ”make an offer” tab. I’ve never sold a piece yet to someone simply asking for best price but I’ll tell you, no matter how tough I resolve to be on price it’s darn hard to resist a “real” offer.
Regards, Larry Rasmussen, Seattle.

Questions for the seller
Hi. Thanks for the info on the tubes. Can you let me know what they sold for ultimately? Agon's new format is making it much more difficult to track sales. I have a pair with similar hours and would like to know what they might fetch. Hope whatever you are saving up for is worth the lost gear!
Hi man, I think it was $980 as that was the bid not long before end of auction. If you have any idea who was bidding on them let me know. I got the price increases posted in ad during auction like every viewing it but no info about bidders. Once ad ended it just disappeared and copy on "my page" just says sold. I've been trying to get audiogon to assist but they will not, just a form automated [filtered]. If anyone is familiar with my auction ending today Sat they can [filtered] me directly at larry206@[filtered].net or [filtered] [filtered]. Thanks, Larry Rasmussen
