Testimonials

"The review sample was the most beautiful turntable I have ever seen and the finish was simply beyond words. The paint job on the turntable itself was equally magnificent and screams quality.

Is the Artisan Fidelity Garrard 301 Statement Turntable even in the same league with tables like a Shindo, AMG, Clearaudio and other world class turntables. The answer is simple, yes indeed. It matches or surpasses any of these tables in build quality, beauty and most of all the way it plays music.

Five Things I Really Like About the Artisan Fidelity Garrard 301 Statement Turntable:
How beautiful it is to look at and how beautiful vinyl sounds when played on it
How solid it’s built and again how solid and powerful music sounds when played on it
How precise it keeps on speed, one of the things that contribute to how solid it sounds
How incredible the lower midrange and bass frequency ranges sounded while using it
The look on visitors faces when they saw it."

- Jack Roberts, Dagogo.com (read the review)

"I can say that listening to my favorite recordings now is like hearing them for the first time. Everything sounds as if it should and the soundstage places everything where it should be. Craftsmanship of the the piece - suffice it to say that my listening room WAS a spare bedroom. When my wife saw the finished product she suggested that I move everything to our living room making the 301 a focal point."
- Frank C., Ohio

"It's probably an initial euphoria sort of thing, but out of all the decks I've built over the years for myself, friends and customers, this is the best one yet and not by a small margin. "
- Yan K., Singapore
"Good news! both the TT and the base have arrived safe and sound, as for looks... truly art! beautiful! the eye goes automatically to the TT in the room, just like a gorgeous woman!"
- Lucio A., Toronto

Artisan Fidelity employs state of the art CAD design, precision ultra high tolerance CNC machine engineering and painstaking hand crafted woodworking techniques in each analog playback instrument. Our design efforts represent the sum of a group of skilled master woodworkers, artists and engineers. with one goal.....

Artisan Fidelity analog restoration services involve meticulous individual dis assembly, frame-off rebuilding, modifying, refinishing and comprehensive refurbishing of each turntable meticulously by hand, one at a time. Each individual turntable model is treated with the same close attention to cleaning and hand polishing detail. Dis assembly, inspection, flushing, micro polishing, re-oiling of main platter bearings is standard procedure. Manufacturer specific bearing oil is used to maintain the highest standard of operation and lowest friction in certain cases synthetic spindle oil may be substituted. In house, precision machined parts having measured high tolerances which meet or in many cases, exceed OEM standards are available for all makes and model turntables serviced.

Turntable power supplies and electronic control boards cleaned and rebuilt by a certified bench technician using audio grade capacitors (Nichicon, Panasonic, Vishay). We inspect internals comprehensively for proper electrical and mechanical functioning. In the rare event a classic turntable requires extensive electronic work or repair, our fully certified / qualified bench technician with 35+ years experience is utilized (limited warranty). Controller, contacts and power switches are striped and cleaned using electrical specific lubricants.

For vintage SME tonearm rebuilding and restoration, each arm is carefully disassembled, stripped down, cleaned + lubricated, calibrated and rewired by hand using only the finest oxygen free Cardas Copper or high purity solid Silver tonearm wire from Cardas and Van Den Hul. Gold plated Cardas tonearm clips are terminated directly onto bare wire ends using Cardas Quad Eutectic Silver solder. Upon re assembly, each part is carefully tensioned and realigned to exacting specifications. Suspension, when/if applicable, is finely adjusted and set.

Restoration

Each restored/modified design is carefully tested and finally tuned by ear prior to customer delivery. We utilize the industry standard for vibration isolation and resonant tuning by Stillpoints technology.

CAD Plinth Design

State of the art precision CNC engineering in conjunction with traditional old world assembly and finishing techniques are employed in each Artisan Fidelity analog masterpiece. Solely bespoke designed natural hardwood and project specific aluminum plinths are individually precision milled and hand crafted by local third generation artisan woodworkers. Internally, constrained layer damping techniques are utilized in select models for proper resonance contouring and internal mass loading, both which play a key role in these designs. Constrained layer damping mechanical engineering techniques are for suppression of vibration achieved through a viscoelastic or other damping material sandwiched between two sheets of
- Cocobolo
- Michigan Hard Maple
- Santos Rosewood
- Central African Zebrawood
- Brazilian Rosewood
- Bubingastiff materials that lack sufficient damping by themselves. All materials, including hardwoods and metals exhibit some visoelastic response and in some applications, such as a precision analog playback device, even small viscoelastic behavior can be significant.

Finishes

Select sustainable kiln dried imported exotic and domestic hardwoods in addition to imported Baltic/Russian Birch plywood varies per individual model, depending upon turntable plinth criteria and stated goals. Woods frequently stocked may include the following:

- African Padauk
- Gaboon Ebony
- Macassar Ebony
- Wenge
- North American Birdseye Maple
- German Panzerholz Engineered wood

Exotic and domestic hardwood veneers of all species are cut and in certain models, plank wrap from one eighth to one inch thick are skillfully applied to plinths exterior surfaces. Seal coating internal cavities using high grade synthetic sealers provides the benefit of long lasting structural durability and internal strength. We carefully design and hand build each heirloom plinth from scratch to suit your personal criteria and stated goals. A wide variety of structural and aesthetic aspects are open to consideration.

Certain misconceptions and myths exist which suggest superiority of thin veneering over genuine hard wood panel/plank outer wrapping. This notion is false and in the eyes of a master woodworker has no merit. The simple truth of the matter is that natural wood will inevitably move and shift to a certain degree over time, which applies to both thin veneer or solid wood planks. Neither veneer of various thickness, or hardwood plank wraps are devoid of this naturally occurring phenomenon. Environmental conditions, such as heat, pressure and humidity (moisture), bonding/sealing techniques, construction methods and finish applications play a vital role in helping to maintain a stable surface. The quality of veneer is absolutely lower compared to its hardwood counterpart. Wood veneer and synthetic wood veneer products are extremely thin and therefore more susceptible to water and damage occurring from humidity and other environmental factors. This unavoidable problem will eventually cause the material to peel and reveal the material beneath it. Wood veneer also becomes costly to repair as the entire surface usually needs to be replaced once it is damaged. Whereas thicker plank wrap can be repaired much more easily because of the actual amount of material at hand. Another advantage to real hardwood is it has a natural grain pattern that develops organically and does not repeat itself. The real key to a long lasting and stable natural wood finish lies in the master craftsman's skillful finishing and sealing methods. Veneer is most often overlaid on various woods, MDF, or plywood all of which have a different expansion and contraction rate than the veneer bonded on top. The result is that when the veneer naturally expands or contracts according to the climate, the material below it does not expand or contract at the same rate causing the veneer to crack over time. In certain situations, veneer is required to conform to irregular shapes, these circumstances are largely unavoidable when designing over multiple layered damped composite cores. If investing for the long term, an heirloom piece consisting of solid wood product will inevitably hold its value higher than the less expensive veneered alternative.

Artisan Fidelity master woodworkers possessing some 60+ years of combined experience with generations of knowledge passed down are proficient in executing these skilled design and building based applications. For clients with specific project finish requirements select matte, semi gloss, laquer, varnish, polyurethane high gloss, genuine hand rubbed English oil, Danish oil, sprayed catalyzed lacquer, water based polyurethane and conversion varnish wood finishes optional.
