Simply stunning turntable from AJ Conti that gets closer to the sound of master tape than anything I've heard.
Basis turntables represent an outstanding combination of price, performance and quality. Few turntables are built with the precision of Basis products; that attention to detail and quality of workmanship is easily apparent.
The 2001's spindle, bearing and outboard motor/pulley is a matched drive system of exceptional quality. The motor is the very same one found on their top-of-the-line Debut Gold Vacuum (a mere $10,600.00!). The acrylic platter is of uniblock construction with machined mat. The solid acrylic machined sub-chassis with integral tonearm mounting is dimensioned for both ideal energy dissipation and convenient placement on standard audio racks. The small footprint is also very user friendly at only 16" x 12" (excluding motor, which adds about 3.5" to the depth).
The 2001 utilzes the unique hydraulically damped suspension concept pioneered in the Debut and Ovation turntables. Effective energy evacuation from the tonearm/cartridge is achieved by adjacent location of the right rear suspension pod.
In addition, the gorgeous sounding Transfiguration Axia moving coil cartridge has been mounted on the superb Vector tonearm. This cartridge has minimal wear with approx 50 albums played on it so far.
Prefer delivery (or pickup) in Michigan and can also deliver to Chicago area in mid October.
