Offered for sale is a Garrard 301 turntable, grease-bearing. This is a cream rimless model, arguably the rarest variant of this iconic turntable (https://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_forum/viewtopic.php?t=37577).
The turntable is in near flawless, original condition:
1. The three control face plates are unmarked and the control knobs are clean and shiny.
2. The cream chassis paintwork is glossy and has no paint chips apart from minimal loss of paint at one of the mounting holes. There are very faint dust bug marks in the paint, detectable only from an angle in bright light.
3. The platter paint is in excellent crisp black condition and the strobe markings are bright.
4. The mat is in perfect condition with no cracks or perishing and the rubber is supple.
The turntable was completely dismantled and all parts cleaned in a ultra-sonic isopropyl alcohol bath. All dirt and grime was removed. Motor spring retaining pins were polished. The motor was disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, reassembled as was the spindle bearing. The levers and linkages were not deplated, and therefore remain in original, but cleaned, condition. The only non-original parts following cleaning and reassembly are:
1. Spark suppressor (original no longer working, will be included with turntable however).
2. Cotter pin for retaining eddy brake magnet (original broke during removal).
The turntable comes with the original manual (matching numbers) and strobe disc, original Garrard bearing grease (tube still half full). It is set up for 230V operation.
