Garrard 301 grease bearing schedule 1 turntable in excellent condition mechanically and nearly perfect cosmetically. It has a 60 Hz brass pulley. There is a small dust bug mark over the off/on lever which is typical of most 301s' from the UK. Also the strobe platter has some minor scratches (see photo) that would be normal for a vintage turntable. This should not be an issue as most 301 owners have their preferred platter mats that would make this a non issue. I sent this table to Loricraft in 2012 for a complete inspection and overhaul. You can check Loricraft's website to see what is included in their full service. This alone was a $500 service not including shipping from FL to the UK ( see invoice ). As part of the refurbishing service, Loricraft converts the grease bearing to an oil bearing like the later model 301s'. Loricraft spindle oil will be included in the sale. In addition they have a special shipping box especially designed for the 301 and it's platter so that is the way it will be safely shipped to the new owner. The idler wheel is also new from Perfect Sound, a Garrard parts specialist in the UK authorized by Loricraft. The bottom line is this unit runs smooth and quiet. You can oil everything from the top of the table after you remove the platter which was not the case when it had a grease bearing. The linkages have all been stripped and replated with zinc (see photo). All the springs and grommets were replaced as well. The attached power chord is from Loricraft and is lightweight so that it doesn't affect the balance of the motor which is suspended by springs.
The Plinth I made myself from laminating layers of Baltic birch and hot hide glue. The same glue used by Luthiers and other acoustic instruments. The Plinth weighs 25 lbs.
and is open for ventilation underneath. The top of the plinth has 3 holes where the Triplanar 7 was mounted but can be covered by your tonearm or arm board. The plinth
will need to be shipped separately from the 301 chassis. I will include a copy of the manual as well. Buying a vintage turntable from eBay is always risky unless you trust the source. This table has been well cared for plus the Loricraft refurbishing so the risk of getting a noisy 301 has been eliminated. Check my feedback and buy with confidence. Thank you for looking.
