Looking to sell my turntable - it's a minimalist classic, the Planar 3 with RB300 tonearm, and comes with a Sumiko Blue Point No.2 cartridge and upgraded Incognito wiring.
The Sumiko Blue Point No.2 ($399) is a high-output Moving Coil cartridge, which means it can be used with regular (Moving Magnet) phono stages. It sounds great, and the No.2 indicates that this is the new improved version. I upgraded from the original to the No.2 and the new cartridge hasn't had many hours of use.
The Incognito Rewire kit ($200-250) uses one continuous length of Cardas wire to replace the whole wiring path of the Rega and provide the best possible signal to the preamp.
Please note: Everything's in good condition (8/10), in fact the cartridge and Incognito rewire are almost new, but two caveats with this table:
- There's no dust cover. Looks like replacements can be purchased for around $70 but I've never felt the need.
- My soldering experience is next to none and, while the Incognito rewire functions fine right now, someone with more skills might want to redo the connections between the the wires and the tabs that fit onto the cartridge to make them prettier and more sturdy.
I think this turntable represents great value, both the base components and the cartridge (Stereophile called the latter "one of the best, if not the best, values in all of high-end audio"!) and it sounds solid. Please check out the pictures and feel free to ask. Includes the original (old) box, the box for the cartridge and an unused spare belt. Price is plus shipping, or local pickup in NYC would also work well.
