SME Model 10 Turntable/tonearm

This SME Model 10 turntable and tonearm is in almost perfect
condition. It has had pride of place in my listening room and, being its only
owner, I’ve taken very good care of it. Purchased from the US distributor, it
bares few signs of use and functions as new. All of the original packaging,
parts, and accessories are present and perfect.

The sound it is capable of recreating is remarkable. Few
turntables I’ve heard are as good at floating the sound above and apart from
the record and the mechanical mechanism. It shares that quality with the
various SME 20 and 30 models, which pretty much just extend the qualities of
the Model 10 to greater degrees. With this unit, you can have a large measure
of that level of performance.

The system also runs quietly and smoothly. The motor and
platter bearing contribute nothing to background noises, and the lack of resonance
in the structure of the turntable leaves nothing to amplify or emphasize surface
noise. That goes as well for the tonearm. Given a good cartridge, this table
seems to absorb or separate groove noise from the sound and make less than
perfect records sound better than you might imagine possible.

I tried to capture the unit’s condition in the photos. It’s
mint. The one sign of use is on the power supply, where the lettering for the
Start button is partially worn away. I have used it! But, I’ve followed the
lubrication schedule faithfully and been very careful working with the tonearm.
There are no scratches or marks on the headshell. The cue lever has full damping
for slow, gentle lowering of your stylus.

Assembly and adjustment of this turntable is one of the easiest
there is. Remove the transit screw, place the chassis on a table, mount the
tonearm, attach the belt, and place the platter on the sub-platter. Mount your
cartridge to the headshell, attach it to the arm, and use the template to align
the arm by simply sliding the arm back until it lines up with the template. Set
fine tracking weight and arm height. Attach power supply and arm cable. Play
music!

Because of the weight and size of the box, and of course the
value and delicacy of the equipment, I recommend special handling, such as 2nd
day air, fully insured. And I will only ship to mainland North America. Pickup
