Sota Comet with Clearaudio cartridge and more

This is a gloss black Sota Comet turntable with a professionally-wrapped Jelco/Audioquest tonearm, a Clearaudio Aurum Beta wood body cartridge, a Ringmat, and the Sota dustcover.  A new Comet with a tonearm will run you $1600, and that's without a cartridge, mat, or dustcover.  The cartridge was $600 new, the dustcover runs $165 new, and a new Ringmat retails for around $90.  Obviously this is not new, and there are a few cosmetic issues, but it works very well, and sounds great!  I just put a new drive belt on the turntable, which greatly improved playback speed and stability. 


The cartridge has approx. 200 hours of use on it. 
  
The only major issue here is the chip out of the dust cover, which is the reason for the 5/10 condition rating.  The dust cover damage doesn't affect the sound quality at all.

I'm selling this because I upgraded to a Well Tempered Versalex & Dynavector 20X2L.  The Comet gets surprisingly close to the sound quality of the Well Tempered for a fraction of the cost.

This is the original Sota Comet from 1993.  If you would like to upgrade it to the specs of the current model, you can send this into Sota, and they can perform the upgrades for less than the difference in cost between this and a new one without a cartridge, dustcover, or mat.
