Sota Series V Star Vacuum Turntable circa 2008. American Cherry finish.
This turntable has recently returned from SOTA for a factory tune up in June 2017.This is a one owner turntable from a non-smoking, pet free, adult household.
This sale is for the turntable, vacuum pump and associated tubing, reflex clamp, Origin Live Silver Mkii tone-arm, Riggle VTAF, dust cover and MINT protractor. The dust cover has defects which are noted below.
I rate the table 8/10. The fit and finish on the 'table are basically as new. The bearing has seen medium wear and the springs have succumbed to gravity a bit and rated as beginning to get spongy. * I've included the correspondence from SOTA regarding the inspection tune up findings at the end of the listing.
The tone arm was purchased new through SOTA. It is an Origin Live Silver MKii. I rate the tonearm condition 8/10 just for age.
The dust cover originated from an earlier, model SOTA turntable I rate it 3/10 because it has couple of holes, cracks and some scratches. The defects are very noticable.
The pump shows some signs of being bumped around a bit. It doesn’t take much to dislodge this finish from the mdf so there are places where you can seen bare mdf on the pump/power supply. If you plan on having it plain sight you may want to have it resprayed.
Also included in this sale is a Mint Best Tractor for cartridge alignment for the Sota / Origin Live combination and a Riggle VTAF with the teflon mod.
The turntable and will ship in the original SOTA packaging. There is a little water staining on the packaging. The turntable was not in the packaging when the staining occurred.
The pump will wrapped in several inches of 1/2” bubble wrap and packaged in it’s original box.
The tonearm will ship securely packaged in new materials.
There is NO cartridge in this sale.
The entire sale will ship in 3 boxes.

The original invoice price for this turntable with the composite arm board was $3670.
The original invoice price for the tone arm was $1000
The mint protractor was $100.
The VTAF was probably around $150 and the teflon mod another $30 or so.

Buyer pays for shipping.
*Summary from SOTA factory tune up:
Series V Star, Serial No. xxxx-0xxxx in American cherry finish was hand delivered with power supply and reflex clamp, no drive belt, power cord, but hose and DIN cable were included. Reflex clamp base has been machined exposing raw aluminum. Table has old style hinges. Do you have the power cord?
Ø Vacuum system has good readings, vacuum lip is in good condition.
Ø Platter is current style with round bearing block assembly.
Ø Bearing and sapphire disc show medium wear.
Ø Series V motor assembly is quiet and tracks on speed with very minor adjustment.
Ø Series V sub-chassis notedØ Suspension is borderline “spongey” after adjustments
Ø Series V power supply needed slight adjustment to achieve appropriate specs
Basic service recommendations include
$N/C – Drive belt with prepaid Tune Up
$N/C – Springs adjustment
$N/C – Recalibrate power supply
$245 – Optional bearing/disc replacement
$405 – Springs replacementUpgrade/Trade in correspondence:
Your inspection report lists it is a series five Star. Nova upgrade would be zirconia or ceramic bearing and vinyl mat vs. steel bearing and acrylic mat your Star has. Springs are the same in either table.Trade in value would be somewhere in the 75% of value when purchased in 2008. Clamp and board would be a +/- in the cost as well as if you can find the power cable.
