Boston Audio Solid Graphite CD Stabilizer
I have used this fantastic product for 5 years in my CEC TL51XR CD Player/Transport to great benefits, as highly recommended by the C.E.C Distributer.
The Price I paid was $150 - Boston Audio has since discontinued it due to prohibitively rising material & fabrication costs. It was & IS a GREAT / Effective Accessory, and a steal at $50.00 Prepaid!
It effectively prevents the unsupported edges of the CD from "Fluttering" as they spin, thereby adding clarity & focus to the sound.
It's painfully simple - the fluttering edges make the CD error correction work overtime while inserting "guesses" for real data.
The Stabilizer allows the player to read the data just as it's encoded on the CD - Period!
Manufacturer's Description:
Made from a specialized form of iso-statically molded graphite with particle sizes under 5 microns, our new CD Stabilizer represents the pinnacle of current disk dampening technology. Just 1.2mm thick and CNC machined to tolerances within 0.0005", the mat absorbs mechanical vibration and enhances speed stability, revealing a more relaxed and airy presentation that you may have thought impossible from a digital source.
We recommend this CD Stabilizer for top loading (or drawer loading with a magnetic puck) CD player/transports.
Designed specifically for the CEC TL51XR, it may also be used with other players. To see if the stabilizer is compatible with your transport/player, try loading/playing 2 disks at the same time. If it works, the mat is compatible. Keep in mind, however, that clamps smaller than 35mm will be 0.5mm closer to the disk with the CD Stabilizer.
