The Steradian Environenmental Processor is a processor designed by Legacy Audio and built by Coda Technologies in California. Per Legacy Audio information, it has several functions and is designed to work with vented speaker systems that produce significant bass. It was initially designed to work with Legacy's larger speakers (Whisper system and Focus----this one was used with the Focus) but I'm told that it "may be of use" with any large speaker where room related bass problems are present.
(1) With it's front panel control knob, it allows bass control from 20Hz to 125 Hz for the purpose of controlling or negating "bass boom" in a room.
(2) It incorporates a "notch filter" that eases low frequency problems by reducing standing waves at 65Hz. This is a frequency response problem dictated by the size and shape of rooms.
(3) It incorporates circuitry that works to increase stereo separation at the lower frequencies.
Someone out there with a bass boom problem in their room (with larger speakers) may benefit from this unit.It is simple to hook up with RCA from the pre-amp/processor to the speaker amplifier of the main front/stereo speakers. The control knob on the front of the processor is used to make the adjustments. If it's compatible with your large speakers, you should hear some changes in bass response and improved stereo separation at the lower frequencies from your stereo speakers.
I used this with the RCA connections and it worked perfectly but I never tested the balanced input/outputs because my equipment didn't support it.
Therefore I am selling this based on RCA hookup only with no guarantee that the balanced connections are functional.
Cosmetically it is a very clean unit with only a few minor blemishes.
The power cord is included.
