The VMPS 626R and 626Jr are wonderful large monitors with ribbon midrange and tweeters operating from 280Hz-30KHz. They have excellent bass performance from its VMPS Megawoofer with 5 pound magnet and 4 layer voice coil. The difference is the tweeter. The R version uses the top of the line FST tweeter while the Jr uses the round ribbon that Infinity used in their IRS series. At $1595.00 and $1995.00 a pair these speakers offers an ultra high performance at their prices. Most manufacturers would sell them for over $3000.00 a a pair based on their cost to build..
The 626R & Jr feature round vertical edges, flush mounted drivers, and slotted anti-diffraction masking of the tweeter for optimum dispersion in either the horizontal or (with masks rotated 90 degrees) vertical planes. The ported woofer design delivers high power handling and bass extension heretofore unheard in this price range (-3dB at 42Hz / 1W drive, no more than 5% THD, with port output clean to 35Hz).
Reviews have been excellent. Dick Olsher summed his review up with:
"Sheer madness! The VMPS 626Jr represents an insane level of sound quality at its asking price. It all starts with a cast of excellent drivers, remarkably well integrated using a first-order series crossover. Throw in a decent cabinet and you end up with a speaker than competes with speakers costing even three times as much. The old adage about good engineering does not cost any more than bad engineering applies here in spades. That push-pull ribbon midrange is something special indeed. My suggestion is to snap up a pair while you can."

John Beavers summed his review up with:
"True value in high-end audio can be difficult to find. I’ve owned more expensive speakers than the VMPS Signature Edition 626R monitors, but nothing has bettered them. To be able to upgrade drivers, internal parts, and cabinets is unique in my experience with high-end audio, and much appreciated. These speakers can evolve as technology improves. They are now my reference for top-quality sound in a monitor design."
