VON SCHWEIKERT AUDIO VR-5 HSE FULL-RANGE SPEAKERS

A pair of excellent-sounding Von Schweikert VR-5 HSE speakers in dark cherry veneer cabinets. These are among the finest speakers ever made by Albert Von Schweikert. HSE stands for "Hovland Special Edition," as the speakers have special 4th order crossovers with expensive Hovland capacitors and shunt wiring to prevent circuits from ringing. Excellent with guitars, voices, brass, symphonic music, and piano. Very natural sounding. When new, this was a reference-level speaker and it has been my personal reference for four years. I am the second owner.

4-way transmission line with SEAS magnesium woofers, Audax midrange, Scanspeak Revelator tweeter, and fully adjustable rear-firing ambient tweeter. 91dB/6ohm, tube-friendly but can also handle lots of power. I've driven them with a 10W EL84 integrated, a 40W set of tube monoblocks, and a set of 220W solid state monoblocks--all with excellent results. 20Hz-20kHz frequency response. Bi-wire or jumpers necessary.

7/10 rating is for minor shipping damage caused by grill moving inside the crate and making pressure marks on the face of one speaker (visible in Pic #4) that are not noticeable from 3 feet away and also hidden by grill. Sale price reflects this. The finish has no major scratches or dings and no chips.
