VPI Scout Turntable with Soundsmith Zephyr Cartridge [Expired]

no longer for sale

Price Reduced - $1500 (was listed for $1900 last week) I have made several purchases lately looking to vary my table and cartridge set-ups and this one was a top contender but I ended up deciding to keep only two of the three set-ups. This entire package is less than a month old and comes with a few extras. You have the VPI Scout, sold by MusicDirect which lists this particular model as B-Stock although I cannot see why. "Fully Guaranteed to Play Perfectly, but May Have A Slight Cosmetic Blemish" is how they list it. The only thing close to less than perfect is what looks like a small rub mark on the top surface of the plinth. This Scout listed for $1400 new instead of the usual $1800. The cartridge is a Soundsmith VPI Zephyr which lists for ($999) and is designed with the uni-pivot VPI Tonearm in mind. The extra's include the The SoundSmith Counter Intuitive for VPI Tonearms ($50) which allows Highly Accurate Tracking Force and Azimuth Settings. It also comes with the Soundsmith EZ-Mount Cartridge Hardware ($30) The EZ-Mount kit consists of four types of 10mm long bolts made from various materials. Although some may choose one type over the others, these bolts were chosen specifically to maximize compatibility with a large range of arms and cartridges. The Scout has all the features you want in a high-end turntable: an outboard motor, a precision machined acrylic platter, and the JMW-9 tonearm. The sound is fast and detailed. The JMW-9 tonearm is the perfect complement to the Scout. The arm has a low friction bearing mounted on a solid stainless steel rod with markings to set VTA (Vertical Tracking Angle). The JMW-9 uses the same geometry and mounting as the Rega RB300 tonearm and can be dropped right into the Rega armhole with no modifications. An RCA junction box allows any RCA-terminated interconnects to be used. Does not include any interconnects. All in all a sweet package, like new with the cartridge having seen only a few hours of playing time. The warranty card is untouched and can be filled out by the buyer. This entire set-up was professionally done at MusicDirect. Total when new was $2480 plus tax. I am selling the entire set-up here for $1500 plus add 3% if paying with Paypal. Shipping will be based on your location and I will include insurance for full sale price at no extra cost. It will be packaged all as it was originally sent to me with the cartridge (w/stylus guard) mounted. It arrived in perfect condition packed this way. Any questions please feel free to contact me.
