I bought this Silver Wyred 4 Sound Dac-2 last July right after the great review in TAS. I believe it is the best way to get audiophile 24/192 at a reasonable price. It really is great, but I found a good deal on a NAD M-2 (I needed a new power amp, and the NAD's PWM technology serves as both DAC and power amp), so now I need to sell the W4S to a good home.
It is broken in, was never moved after I hooked it up, and will ship in a very well isolated box.
I liked the W4S because it can bypass your preamp and feed the converted digital signal directly into the power amp. In fact, I ran my preamp (with FM tuner and phono input) through the W4S' bypass, so it was really easy to switch between digital and analog input. I hooked up TOSlink out of the TV, and spdif out of the CD player, and I was done.
This is a great unit, I hate to part with it, I'm sure you will enjoy it. It's really a 10, but I've had it since July, so I had to give it a 9 (I guess). I'm including the original receipt, which was for f $1651.14 (incl tax & shipping).
