This is an excellent model built in Japan that is becoming increasingly rare. It has a high damping factor for strong controlled bass without compromising delicate and crystalline mids and highs due to Yamaha's HCA "Hyperbolic Class A" technology. According to Yamaha, "..The Yamaha developed HCA circuit goes a step beyond the conventional Class A amplification generally used in a high performance amplifier." ".The MX-1 Amplifier is rated for continuous output power all the way down to 2 ohms - - impossible for most amps because lower impedances cause much higher amounts of distortion. This means the MX-1 can be used with low impedance speakers and will function flawlessly even under fluctuating loads caused by variations in the music signal."

There are connections and front panel switching for one or two speaker sets plus a selector switch for ac supply voltages. There are a couple visible but minor scratches. Due to its large heat sinks, it runs very cool which extends component life. Please also note that chassis depth is deep (19.25 inches) which could be a problem with shallow shelves. I have had best experience with and recommend FedX Ground for the continental US. Please add 3% for Pay Pal.
