Zu Soul Speakers 6 Mos Old Bested Zen Spendor Sonus Faber Mundorf Caps 'Natural' Veneer

For sale is a pair of 6 month new Zu Soul Standard speakers with a $200 High Pass Upgrade of Mundorf Silver Oil Caps in 'natural' wood veneer (the Mundorf Silver Oil caps do not normally come in the Zu Omen or Soul Standard, but are stock in the Superly). These speakers sound supremely musical and immediate (front row center), with extraordinary imaging and are dynamic, quick, vivid yet warm, high efficiency speakers which by my ears bested Zen Adagios, Sonus Faber Grand Piano Home, and Spendor S8e, and Dai Helicon speakers in my living room. Even the lower powered SET tube amps drive them well yet they still sound wonderful with solid state and with all genres of music: including rock, jazz, classical, vocals, instrumentals.

Although this is the standard edition of the Soul not the Superfly edition, it has the same cabinet as the Superfly and because of the expensive high pass upgrade, it has the same Mundorf Silver Oil Caps as the Soul Superfly edition. However, being the standard edition, as best I understand, it has the same APT-L2 tweeter as the Superfly and Omens, but differs from the Superfly in that it has the same 12 Ohm driver as the Omen (I believe the Druid driver was 12 Ohm), and has internal copper wiring instead of silver plated copper like the Superfly (if you like silver speaker wire). Please go to the Zuaudio.com web site or contact Zu Audio to verify accuracy of this and confirm any differences between this and the Zu Soul Superfly and Omen if you are concerned before purchasing.

They are in the same condition as they were received from the factory six months ago with no obvious dings or scratchs. However, when I get close in good lighting, the clear coat to me seems imperfect in that if I angle the light just right to where I get a reflective surface, I can see where there is some dimpling in the clear coat. This should not be an issue at a normal listening distance unless you are the obsessive type and get close in reflective light- nor can I see the the dimpling in normal evening room lighting. I do not see any bare areas or nasty runs. These speakers came from the factory that way and were NOT sold as B stock or blems. I had a couple pairs of Omens before this, and the finish was exactly the same. The lightly clear coated finish is probably standard fair with the Zu Soul Standards and the Omens - and is likely a concession Zu made because of the heavily discounted price over the Supefly edition.
