Nice system. I especially like the rear pic of the Forte FT-1 Multichannel amp - since its my picture. No harm, no foul.

You should try building a Krell KSA clone. Bias it up till the sinks are 140F and you will be in heaven.

Picked up a spare Denon 2900(exc cond) for <$100 on eBay!
(This is less than the cost of a replacement laser assembly from Denon).

Replacement Hovland tweeter caps finally arrived; Now treble detail is noticeably improved yet not exaggerated. Cymbals shimmer and no longer sound like white noise. Bells sound like they have a "halo" of harmonics that decays after the initial attack- very pleasing. Not bad just for a cap change!

One small problem-
Two of the assembled capacitors are not measuring properly, so I've contacted the the manufacturer for return authorization to get replacements, and will report on the results once the crossovers are reassembled.

I am in the process of upgrading the crossovers with Clarity Caps and Hovland Film/Foil caps to see if its possible to increase the resolution of this already revealing system. Current caps used are Solen MKP and Axon True Caps, in a cluster for the tweeter. I detect a very slight bit of "tizz" and I suspect a loss of fine details, compared to a friend's crossover using film & foil caps.
I will report on my findings once I complete the upgrade.

Parts upgrades were done on Fosgate Pre-Pro, and the sound quality through its DSP is now comparable to the analog bypass mode, which is quite nice. More open and airy with improved soundstage and dynamics. Overall a good investment.

System edited: Finally did listening comparisons with SACDMODS DVD2900, versus stock Denon unit. The modded player has a more relaxed yet detailed sound with a very engaging presentation (better P.R.A.T.). The picture is even improved!

The Forte amps (4 & 5) have a refined, airy quality with increased depth and dimension to the soundstage. They just reproduce musical timbres in a more believable way. While the Parasound is superior to my Denon receiver, and does a nice job on center and surround channels the Forte's take the right and left channels to another level. I was truly surprised by the differences I heard in stereo listening.

The side panels (cheeks) on the speakers are .75" solid oak and act to further damp the panel resonance by adding mass and stiffness. They make the large mdf side panels of the speaker enclosures more inert and look nice too.

Thanks for the compliment. It was alot of work to make the enclosures (contouring and beveling), but well worth it as we think they look like a million.

The front two subwoofers use 12" sealed woofers with 300w "plate" amps, operating below 100Hz and are connected from the L&R speaker terminals (high level input). The two rear subs (which double as speaker stands for the rear surrounds)are daisy chained and are fed from the controller's subwoofer/LFE out(low level input)at 80Hz.The Pre/Pro has selectable high/low pass filters from 40-120Hz. Bass is clean and tight (same response as NHT 3.3).

Positioning was trial and error, but due to the number of woofers we get pretty smooth bass in our listening seats. When playing sources with low bass(U571or Hotel Calif.from the Eagles' Hell Freezes Over DVD),you can really feel it.
