Great man cave, I have Focal speakers in my surround sound system and two channel reference system. I haven't listen to the Kantas very much but I'm sure they sound great, especially in your set-up.

Welcome to the record store style storage club! Looks great.

I like your music tastes. We’re on the same boat when it comes to music.
Your listening room is to die for. Have you ever given thought to upgrading your components to current standards?

I'm also running a refurbished SX-1250 in my system. I never imagined I'd see one featured on Audiogon! Love your listening chair as well. Is that an Eames?

Great setup, love the opening in the door for the kitty 😂

Nice looking room/system.

bmoncrieff - Thanks for your comment. But why would I run a step-down transformer with my turntable. I just plug it into the power conditioner and everything works fine. Let me know if I'm missing something. Thanks

Owner
mjcmt -- Thanks! I had the sx1250 recapped last year and it got a clean checkup. I refinished the wood on the outside myself using some furniture rejuvenator I had. The unit is as close to showroom new as it gets now. And it works great with everything I connect to it (my Focal Kantas, my Sonus Faber Concertino bookshelf speakers, and even my old Cerwin Vega D-9s. All sound terrific).  The HT stuff -- which I almost never use anymore -- is an old Definitive Technology surround sound system I used in old home theater setup. I have it there just in case we watch any movies or play and video games. The powered subs on each of those speakers really rumble, but it is a stand-alone setup not connected in any way to the 2-channel system in that room, which dominates my time now. I can't remember the last time I watched a movie in that room. LOL

What a great listening room. Is your sx1250 rebuilt and how does it compliment Focal modern speakers?

What is your HT component/speaker list?

mjcmt

Very nice. I’m curious what step down transformer your running with your DP-57?

bmoncrieff

Wow!

thosb... Thanks for the kind comment! Regarding acoustic treatments... GIK provided some input to some design ideas I came up with myself. They mostly recommended adding diffuser panels to the bass traps to get good combo of diffusion/absorption in the room. After that, I moved them around the room in different spots and tried things out, but being that most of the treatments are combo panels, they can go pretty much anywhere. I also made a few extra acoustic panels on my own that I can move around the room as needed. I became a big believer in the importance acoustic room treatments after many years struggling with room issues. There's no perfect solution, of course, but every little bit helps. Thanks again!

Very cool, love the vintage electronics with the Focal Kantas, which btw I didn't recognize bc I don't think I've ever seen them with the driver screens on.  Great record collection too, many of my faves!  Curious about your room treatment - did you get guidance from GIK or similar or was it trial/error or both that led you to the type and locations of treatments?  Well done sir!

Very retro and I really like the cat door.
