Description

This system was built for simplicity, just 2 boxes and a power conditioner and a pair of Kelinac 714 MG speakers.   The Mimas integrated amp( with DAC card) is plugged directly into the wall with stock power cord.  I have the Hijiri Nogamo power cord for the Aurender and the Silversmith Fedelium speaker cables and I have a Tchernov USB pro.  For tweaks I have a Synergistic Research Purple Fuse in the Mimas, and the Synergistic Research black box in the corner, although I'm not sure that black box does anything. LOL.

Hi Rixthetrick.  yes, I have plans to do room treatments.  As a matter of fact I am going to use REW and just got a USB mic delivered from Amazon to do room measurements.  I am also thinking about changing my racking as the ones I have don't have vibration control.  Thanks

jond, gosh it's so hard to compare the amps.   I like the Burmurster integrated, but it was nothing like listening to those Elacs hooked up to the 911s at dealer, I mean, that was amazing.  Going by memory is hard, and not having the Burmester here to compare in my current system with Mimas I don't think can give anything here.  sorry.

milpai, okay, you are right, at one time I did have the original Terminator, I completely forgot about that.  I didn't have it very long, if I recall it frustrated me because it was bright in my system on a lot of pop/rock recording or really exposing things.  I wasn't good enough at system building or mitigating stuff back then.  Checking email exchanges at the time, I sold it and bought a Border Portal DAC that was warmer sounding.

milpai, I never had a Terminator DAC.  I came so close to pulling the trigger on one a couple of days ago until I found out about the Musetec.   The Terminator did not have a remote so I'm glad I didn't get it.

jond, I somehow saw a picture of them on the net and thought they were beautiful.  I then used google translate and read the French audio forums.  High praise for them, underlying theme was as long as they are fed right, they punch way above their price point.  I started an email exchange with the designer and he said he could ship to America as he already had done so.  So there are few other pairs in the states.   I haven't had them very long and I'm still getting to know them, playing around with cables, set up etc.. As for their sound, they are extremely responsive to what is fed to them.   They are what I would describe as a fun speaker, they have the toe tapping, head bopping factor.   Would I say they are better than the Proac D48 R?  No, but just different flavor, I enjoy both speakers. I have a Musetec DA005 DAC on the way, so they should potentially raise sound quality of the system.

Milpai, I still have the Proacs.  I have two systems in the house and will rotate speakers between the two from time to time.  The other system has blue  node streamer into a Creek Audio Evolution 100a (love this amp) to the Proac speakers.  I enjoy both speakers and trying things, just different flavors.
