Can you please post photos of your system and room set-up?

Porschecab,

That's amazing. The GT has got to be one of the best sounding and looking cars on the market. We have a few in our area and they just make my day every time I see one. I have a boxster and a 996 and love them despite the M96 engine issues. :(

I agree with Mitch we have to see the sound room and I wouldn't mind a shot of the stable... I wonder what else you have in there... :)

Take care

Come on....you've got to post some pictures of the room and the whole setup!!!

Room measures about 32 x 22.

Yes, we are an owner of a GT.

porschecab

Is that really your GT?

NIce.

galeriehughie

What ar the dimensions of your room?

mitch4t

I have to bite on this one...is that your Carrera GT?

Absolutely awesome. Please share some pics when you get the entire rig installed. I would especially like to hear how you get on with the top of the line parametric DSP EQ in the new room. My limited experience has been that EQ's work well below 80 Hz for taming room modes but don't help much with reverb, ringing or fixing nulls.

If you are even CONSIDERING the ML51, you might want to hurry. They will begin to ship within the next 10 days and just about each of the limited collection of 250 are spoken for (meaning paid).

Folks buying the 51 are not too concerned about cutting edge video, as everyone knows players in the $200 to $400 range will come soon. Bravo D1 and OPPO are both cutting examples of this. Folks buying the 51 want the phenomenal 2 channel performance promised, like from the PMDT, 31, 39, and so many other highly praised Levinson CD's.

The 51 happens to play excellent video as well, it is limited to just 250, thus the reason for owning one. Likely prices will stay VERY high on the resale side. Couple this with just 250 being produced, it is an opportunity offered to few, and taken by less. I am more than happy to be the owner of one.

I probably get as many questions about Porsche vehicles than audio. Not really, but it is pretty darned close.
What do you think the first question about Porschcab moniker I am asked?

"What Porsche do you drive?" Which is ALWAYS followed by, "I have............" and not always is this response ONE.

porschecab

What does a picture of your car have to do with Home Theater?

imdoc

Looks like an awesome system. I am looking at the ML 51 not yet realeased and am interested in why you chose this in light of HiDef coming out now.

Wow, who cares about music when you have a car that beautiful. I would kill to just sit in that car. I am drooling all over myself. Your are one lucky man to own that car.

Hi Dan,
Very nice system....K2S9800SE wow....
I just come back from Asia. I've listen to the K2s9800SE while I was in HK but did not have time to ask for questions about that. My room is not that good at all, it 15'W x 30'L x 7.5'H. and I am seating 16' from the front wall. Don't you think the K2S9800SE will fit in my room.
Thank you
Stephen

They are building a temporary 'housing' for the system while we are waiting for the addition/room to be built.
It is completely trashed right now, the living/family room with walls torn apart, black stage box sitting on the floor, but I will try to snap some this weekend.

The K2's are pretty darned good!

Thanks,
Dan

porschecab

I personally feel the K2s with my electronics, in my room, to my ears, have substantially better bottom end that the Sig 800s do. Now, keep in mind, the Sig800s need a large, large room, with serious power and listening levels to come alive. The K2s are phenomenal in just about ANY sized room and levels!

Thanks Dan,
one more question for you,
on paper, the 9800 only goes down to 45hz ish.., which I thought was quite surprising given the size of the woofer and price of the unit.
what do you think of the bass performance??

(I'm asking this cuz my old man is considering either the 9800 or the 800D from B&W- any opinions?)
Thanks
Jay

I was lucky enough to locate a pair of the SE's for sale.
As for comparison on the non-SE, hard to tell. I was running the non-SE with the Meridian 861 and 800 along with Cello Performance II's. The SE's are running with a Levinson Media Console 40, 436's stacked, and Proceed PMDT.
The sound is VERY different, surely alot has to do with the Levinson gear.

I just recently made the swap, so will know more in a few weeks. I do like the Levinson set ALOT more!

Dan

porschecab

Hi porsch,
Very nice system Wow...!!

how did you get your hands on the SE's?!!
I thought they were just sold in Asia (you must have quite amazing resources)

how do theycompare to the 'old' 9800s?
